Waterside Bistro

The Waterside has a charming, licensed Bistro with a fantastic view of Lake Ontario! Open to members and the public all year round, the Bistro is the best kept secret in Toronto! During the summer it has a cottage atmosphere with the lake in full view from our decks and a warm breeze washing over you! During the winter the Waterside Bistro has a ski chalet feel to it with floor to ceiling windows looking out on the lake and two fireplaces to cozy up to. The Waterside Sports Club & Bistro is located on Queen's Quay and is very accessible from all parts of the city via the Bayview Extension, Gardiner Expressway and Don Valley Parkway.

Sippin’ on the Dock of the Bay
The best-kept lakeside patio secret is the private Waterside Sports Club, whose bistro is open to the public. With mammoth golf and tennis bubbles blocking the sounds of Lake Shore Boulevard and a large selection of premium and import draft at reasonable prices, it’s a little hideaway from it all.

Shhhhh! It’s a secret
This place is the epitome of a hideaway. Open daily from 11:30am the Kitchen closes at 10:00 PM and the bar at 12:00am, but if it’s busy they stay open later! This spot offers a great view of the lake and the islands on a stretch of our waterfront industrial wasteland. The restaurant is an offshoot of the sports club. Sitting here enjoying a beer and looking out at the lake, it is exactly what you want in a patio: laid back, with a good view, shade if you want it or heat if that’s your choice. The staff is really friendly, too. There’s even free parking. This is the perfect place to bust people who think they know all the patios this city has to offer. And it’s worthy the trek.

Don’t tell anyone, but there’s a fabulous spot right on the lake that nobody knows about even thoughit’s been there for years. Throw in free parking and three decks on the water’s edge and those who fondly remember the similar but long gone Sgana Cafe will make this their new summer hideout. The panaoramic patio view takes in skyscrapers, idyllic Wards Island and passing sailboats.

The Sgana Cafe lives on at Waterside Bistro. An east-side lakefront eatery attached to a private tennis club, the Waterside is open to the public. Far from sightseeing Harbourfront tour busses and known to few of the bladers rolling past on the Martin Goodman Trail, one of Toronto’s most spectacular spots hides at the end of a winding driveway at the foot of Sherbourne Street. Here’s an even bigger surprise parking that’s normally 10 bucks anywhere else around here is free at Waterside. Once inside, This place is gorgeous.  A bar and lounge area give way to a formal split-level sky-lit atrium complete with working fireplace. French doors open to two decks, one tented, another sunny. A flowering hedge cleverly conceals the parking lot so customers only see the dazzling view across the harbour to Wards Island. Sailboats serenely float by. Seagulls squall. Waterside Bistro’s nobody’s secret now.
